The Mk II Escort 1.6 was the very first car the Hill Brothers competed in. After years of marshalling Lombard RAC stages and single-venue events as kids, the brothers were old enough to drive — and the Escort was waiting in the workshop.
It ran on night rallies up and down the country in the early 1990s. Long evenings in the workshop, cold dark stages, learning the craft of rally preparation by doing it. Everything that came after — the 205, the 106, the Mini, the Yaris — traces back to this car.
The Escort is no longer with the team but its DNA lives in every build that followed.
Notable results
- Multiple night rallies, UK-wide
- Family's first competitive rally car
